2019 has been an eventful year so far. It started in a polar vortex, and has since been filled with traveling around Europe and the US. Through all of it, I have gained more friends, travel tips, and amusing anecdotes from tour. We have a few weeks left of this tour, but have so far visited the land of the Vikings, survived a turtle, a European heat wave, and more Easy Jet flights than a person should in one summer.

Stepping Into A Prism

Walking into the Sagrada Família is like being transported to another world. The exterior is an amazing mix of Gothic, Catalan, and modern lines, all woven in a way that can only be described by the name of the man that created it, Gaudi. Symbolism covers every surface of the Basilica. The vision that is slowly appearing, though incomplete, has been revealing itself for over 100 years. Visiting the Sagrada Família has been on my bucket list for years, and this past Sunday, that dream was realized.

München (Munich) is a city filled with Biergartens, Dragons, and some beautiful sightseeing adventures. While I didn't have time to visit the legendary parks, majestic castles in the nearby Alps, or the palace, a self-guided walking tour let me see the city, and know that I would like to return. It's name means 'by the monks', and this refers to the monks of the benedictine order. Munich has remained a cultural hub since 1158, and remains so today.

The Gherkin

Of all the cities in the world, that I have seen, I think some of the most beautiful variance in architecture exists in London. It has been a melting pot for centuries. Ideas, shapes, cultures, and tones from history shade its buildings. Throughout the city, there is such a variety of structure, that it really is a feast for the eyes. My friend, Jamie gave me an 8+ mile walking tour of the city. I finallly saw the city from the perspective that I have only read about, and never have time to take!

Cologne

This is my first Lifestyle editorial ... kidding. No talk of scents or why not to every wear Axe. My travels recently took me to Cologne, Germany. I am currently at the start of a year-long world tour, with Shakira, as her Programming Engineer. Our days are busy, long, and we don't have tons of time off, but when we do, I like to go explore. I woke up a couple days ago, looked across the river from our hotel, and was floored by what I saw. The Cologne Cathedral is a sight that I will never forget.

The Great Smoky Mountains

Spring is a beautiful time of year. With all my travels and various adventures, occasionally I miss a change in seasons somewhere. This year, spring was different for me. Instead of skipping from winter into late spring, like I have for the past several years, I actually got to enjoy the cusp of spring in the Smoky Mountains with my wife and kids.

Seasons

Seasons are beautiful! They are what help divide the months, the years, and give motion and a sense of time to our lives. This past year, my seasons brought me an end to living life alone, gave me a wonderful family, and taught me lessons in ways that only a new season can. In one year, I saw frozen Niagara Falls, military bases in the conflict torn Middle East, played music with great friends, saw places that few ever get to, and married the love of my life, Natalie. I am only now starting to realize all that has changed. This new season is a wonderful one!
