I have always wanted to attend one of these events. Fortunately, I was in Miami on Sept. 21 this year, and it was one of the 5 cities in this year's Red Bull Flugtag USA .

The wildlife that I refer to is actual animals, of which there are a large variety here in Miami.

The art from the period references machines and industrial progress, but actually seeing the machines from those creators really knits the genre together. After all, it was the machines and industry that inspired the art.

Yep, it took awhile, but I finally did it. Second, I have now visited both lands of my ancestors, Germany being the other, in case that wasn't terribly apparent.
Read MoreI made a trip up to New York City a couple weeks ago for an audition. It was a crazy bit of travel, several airplanes, buses, a subway and a taxi, but I finally made it to my destination. This was a trip for work, but it worked out so that my down time happened in a couple big chunks. Fortunately, the weather was nice enough that I could walk around and explore this city that I work in several times a year, but have not been able to sightsee in since childhood.
A week ago, I had an opportunity to experience yet another dose of Small Town America. This time, it was in the wilds of North Carolina and North East Kentucky. I was out with a stage show, and the local color that I witnessed with them in just a few days was amazing!
